Rockland After-School Alliance (RASA)

RSU13 is offering ARTS IN ACTION in collaboration with Youthlinks and the Rockland Rec Center. ARTS IN ACTION is an extension of the existing RASA (Rockland After-School Alliance) program, and is the brainchild of Alexis Iammarino, a RASA arts instructor. ARTS IN ACTION creates art opportunities wherein students can affect change in their local community through beautification, education and art. This summer, program participants will design, sketch and paint an enormous mural at the Rockland Rec Center. Their art will be on display for all community members to enjoy.

RASA’s ARTS IN ACTION summer project will be offered the following weeks from 9am-noon, Monday through Thursday, at the Rockland Rec Center:

July 14th-July 17th

July 21st-July 24th

August 4th-August 7th

August 11th-August 14th

August 18th-August 21st

A healthy snack will be available for participants and the program is free thanks to a grant secured by RSU13 Adult & Community Education and the generous support of our agency partners. Enrollment for the summer program is currently open.

Effective immediately, RASA has a new policy regarding students that are issued a detention.  A student may not participate in RASA clubs on any day they are serving a detention.  This applies to both academic and disciplinary detentions, but not teacher detentions.

The student's absence from that day's RASA club will be recorded as an unexcused absence, and Youthlinks will notify the parent of the child's absence from program.

This policy has been endorsed by Kathy Hollicker and  Shannon Parker for the district, and Deb Schilder for Youthlinks.
